How Would They Know?
About Me
The main idea that is driving this blog is giving women the opportunity to prove they understand sports. It is no secret that the NFL, MLB, and NBA are male dominated industries (rightfully so). But there has been tremendous growth of women in sports in the last 20 years. I want to prove that women can know just as much or not more about sports than men. The passion to truly understand games will be a focal point of the blog.
Super Bowl LVII Recap
Super Bowl LVII was full of so many highs and lows. From injuries to controversial calls and family affairs. Super Bowl LVII was one to remember and proved just how great the game of football is.
"The Kelce Bowl"
One of the biggest stories of this year's Super Bowl was the battle between brothers, Travis and Jason Kelce. This was the first Super Bowl In NFL history where brothers were playing against each other. Travis and Jason played outstanding the whole night. Travis ultimately came out on top by helping lead the Chiefs to victory with 1 TD and 81 YDs. All eyes were on the brothers at the end of the game to see their postgame embrace. The love the two brothers share is a great reminder that football is more than a game.
Is Patrick Mahomes the next GOAT?
With the win on Sunday, Mahomes earned himself his second Super Bowl ring as well as his second Super Bowl MVP title. He was also awarded MVP for the 2022 season. Not only did Mahomes prove he can win, he proved his toughness and ability to overcome adversity. While playing with a high ankle sprain, Mahomes was tackled on his bad ankle in the first half. Things weren't looking good for the Chiefs but Mahomes came out in the second half proving all the doubters wrong. Mahomes threw for 3 touchdowns and 182 yards, but the most important stat for Mahomes was his 25yd run in the 4th quarter that would set the Chiefs up for the game winning field goal. The girt Mahomes continues to showcase proves he has what it takes to be the best of all time.
3rd & 8
During the Chiefs possible final drive of the game, the most controversial call was made. With 1:40 to go on 3rd down Mahomes threw an incomplete pass to the end zone. With a FG in mind and time left for the Eagles, the whole game was changed with a holding call on Eagles corner back James Bradberry. The Chiefs received a 1st down and were able to run down the clock and kick the game winning FG. In my personal opinion that should not have been a holding penalty. Both players grabbed at each other and in a moment so big the refs shouldn't have made that call. With that being said I do believe that so many other factors go into winning or loosing a game. Football is a long game and the Eagles could have been better in other aspects of the game in order to come out on top.
Super Bowl LVII lived up to the hype. Congratulations to both teams on great seasons. We would love to hear your thoughts on the game and predictions for next season. Please comment below and leave a review. Until next season!
America’s Most Beloved Ballparks
Fenway Park
Home to the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park was built in 1912 and is considered the most historical park in the MLB. Fenway is best known for The Green Monster. The Green Monster is a popular nickname for the 37-foot-2-inch-high (11.33 m) left field wall. The wall is 310 feet (94 m) from home plate and is a popular target for right-handed hitters. The park is right in the city of Boston and is surrounded by a lot of fun bars and restaurants. Fenway's charm and history will steal the heart of any baseball lover.
Wrigley Field
Wrigley field opened in 1914 and is home to the Chicago Cubs. The field is quite literally in a neighborhood, owners of the apartments sell tickets so fans can sit on their balcony to watch the game. Wrigley Field hasn't always been so lucky though, in 1945 William Sianis's pet goat named Murphy, was bothering other fans, and so the pair were asked to leave the stadium. Outraged, Sianis allegedly declared, "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more". The cubs were cursed by the "Billy Goat" for 71 years. Wrigley Field still holds so much history and is a huge attraction to baseball lovers.
Oracle Park
Oracle Park is a baseball stadium in the SoMa district of San Francisco, California. Since 2000, it has served as the home stadium of the San Francisco Giants. This is a must see park because it sits right on the water. Locals will kayak in the ocean and catch home run balls. It is an exciting stadium with great views!
Aaron Rodgers out of Green Bay
The biggest news in the NFL world this past week has been the Aaron Rodgers era is ending in Green Bay. Although the trade has not been finalized, Rodgers announced on the Pat McAfee show that he intends to play for the New York Jets in 2023. This comes to no shock with Rodgers being indecisive about his future in Green Bay the past two years. Rodger's career in Green Bay was nothing short of amazing and Packer fans will miss him deeply. As a Packer fan myself, I can confidently say that Rodgers was the funnest player to watch. He created so many opportunities for the team and proved what can be done when all odds are against you.
"That's what you do as a leader, exude confidence even in a situation where it seems to the outside world that confidence shouldn't exist and that's what I did, I believed in myself and my abilities and I also believed in this team"
-Aaron Rodgers
4th & 8 in Chicago
With what looked like was gonna be a sack, Rodgers scrambled out of the pocket on 4th down and found wide open Randel Cobb for a 48-yd TD. With no time left the TD gave the Packers the win over their long time rival and sent them to the playoffs.
Two feet down
Rodger's throw to Jared Cook in the 2017 divisional playoff game against the cowboys is arguably the greatest throw of all time. With no time left and overtime in everyone's mind, Rodgers rolled to his left on 3rd & 20 and threw a dart down the sideline to Jared Cook. Cook barley had both feet inbounds to complete the catch. The play set up the Packers to kick the game winning FG with 3 seconds left.
What injury?
On opening night of the 2018 season Rodgers went down with a knee injury in the first half. It did not look good but somehow Rodgers was able to come back in the game and lead the Packers to a win, despite being down 17 points. The 32 yd TD pass to Geronimo Allison set up the win for the Packers.
Come back to it
With less than two minutes left in the game Rodgers drove the Packers down the field and hit Devante Adams with the game winning TD. On 1st down Rodgers threw and incomplete pass to Adams, Adams came back to the huddle and said come back to it because he knew Rodgers could make a better throw. On 2nd down, the Packers ran the exact same play and Rodgers completed the back shoulder pass to Adams, resulting in a Packers win.
I created a TikTok based of a trend to capture Rodgers greatest moments as a Packer. Die hard packer fans will know each moment based on the photos but I will explain below the significance of each play.
Discount Double Check
During the 2010 NFC championship game Rodgers drove the Pack down on their first possession to the Bear's two and ran in the opening TD on a boot leg play. There was no stopping Rodgers after that touchdown.
A Giant Hail Mary
With time running out at the end of the 1st half Rodgers did what did best, throw it deep with pin point accuracy. Randel Cobb caught the Hail Mary pass in the back of the end zone on a cold night at Lambeau field. The iconic play was Rodger's 3rd Hail Mary of this career.
Miracle in Motown
In 2015 Rodgers had proven he could do just about anything, until he threw a game winning Hail Mary to Richard Rodgers in Detroit. This was the first time the Packers had won off a Hail Mary pass. This would set up Rodgers to complete two more Hail Mary passes in his career as a Packer.
The Lasting Impact
JJ Watt is arguably the best defensive end to ever play the game. He always left everything on the field and was willing to do whatever it took to be the best. At the end of the 2022 NFL season, Watt announced he would be retiring from football. The night before his final game he was surprised with a memorable video with his family, teammates, and competitors congratulating him on his incredible career. Watt is overcome with emotion when he watches the video. As a viewer I was able to see the impact he had on and off the field throughout his career. I truly appreciate him as a player but after watching this video I appreciated him more as a person. This video was so memorable because it puts the value of someone’s career in perspective and what it means to truly be great at something.
A Girl In A Man’s World
Sports have always been a part of my life. From playing competitive soccer, watching my brothers play football and baseball, and spending every Sunday in the fall in front of the TV there has never been a moment without sports. I can't remember a family trip growing up that didn't involve playing sports or going to a professional baseball or football game. I always knew I wanted to work in sports one day, but there was a particular day in San Fransisco I knew working in sports was mean't for me.
During the 2019 NFL season I had the opportunity to go to the 49ners vs Packers game in San Fransisco. As a die hard Green Bay Packer fan I could not wait to watch my favorite team play in person for the first time. We got to the game right when the gates opened and I immediately ran down to the first row so, I could watch the players warm up. It was so cool to see them go through their pre-game routine. I loved seeing how different each player prepares for the game. Some guys play catch with fans while others jog laps around the field. I was taking in every detail. The atmosphere is indescribable. Things are busy and moving, I also loved observing all the logistics that go into a game. My brother left after about 10 minutes to go get dinner and I told him, "You are crazy. How could you leave at a time like this?". He responded with, "You love sports way too much". My passion for sports grew larger than I could have ever thought. Being in that moment I knew I was mean't to work in that industry.
I had another opportunity to go to a Packer game in Green Bay in 2022. Going down to watch the warm ups I felt the same rush of excitement as I did when I was in San Fransisco. I was right next to the broadcaster's box and I had the opportunity to watch Sunday night announcer, Melissa Stark prepare for the game. She was preparing her questions and getting mic'd up. It was inspiring to see her professionalism and how is translated during the game. Once again I was reminded of how much I love sports and the connection it brings to everyone in the stadium.
Through these defining moments I have taken the opportunity to use this blog platform as a way to translate my love and knowledge of sports. Please enjoy each post and feel free to leave comments discussing your opinions of particular sports topics. I would also love to know why you love sports and what drives to invest time in watching a game?

Four Days In October
Baseball has a crazy way of making you pay for your mistakes. When the Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1920 they were “cursed” by the baseball gods for 84 years. When the night of October 16, 2004 came to a merciful end, the Curse of the Bambino was alive and well.
The next night, in Game 4, the Yankees took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, then turned the game over to Mariano Rivera, the best relief pitcher in postseason history, to secure yet another trip to the World Series. But after a walk and a hard-fought stolen base, the cold October winds of change began to blow. Over four consecutive days and nights, this unlikely group of Red Sox miraculously won four straight games to overcome the inevitability of their destiny. This was the first time in baseball history that a team was down 3-0 in a series and came back to win. The Red Sox would go on to win the World Series, breaking the curse of the great bambino.
You can watch the whole story on ESPN under the documentary Four Days In October.
Walter Payton is arguably the best running back in the history of the NFL. His passion and grit for the game have forever impacted football.
A Football Life- Walter Payton gives great insight to Payton’s incredible career and what he means to the game of football.
